British researcher says Facebook a brain drain

I saw this article on www.hackinthebox.org. It raises an interesting point about the way we use social networking and how it may influence society going forward. I think that visual media; movies, tv, video games, etc..., has over the years played a much larger role by creating an atmosphere that rewards short attention spans.

Just my 2 cents though,
Dave

So Nader is running in 2008

I was watching the news this morning and saw that Ralph Nader is running for president. So I did a quick search and found his website.

Whether or not you or I agree with Nader's view points, it is good to see that someone other than the normal Dem or Rep running. For me, in order to make an informed decision, I will have to see what Nader stands for and whether or not his beliefs and mine correspond.

I hope everyone takes their voting responsibility seriously and really looks hard at all the candidates and then votes accordingly.

Sears to Offer Linux Pc's

I am NOT going to get into the whole Linux vs Windows debate.

Now this looks like a pretty good deal, $199 Linux PC after rebate. Even if takes a little bit to get used to the interface, this should be a very nice alternative to the standard PC's out there.

Personally I have been thinking about getting a couple of Linux boxes set up. This might just be the ticket, if they are ever back in stock.

My Thoughts on being "Small Minded"

After reading the post entitled Small Minded on the Nation Reformation blog, I totally agree with this sentiment. I think to myself, how hard would it be for everyone in the US to shop locally and avoid the big chains for some of their purchases. It will cost a little extra money and may take a little bit of time to build a relationship with your local, grocer, hardware store, etc.... In the end though it will be well worth it. I have started shopping at a local grocery store chain, they have 5 stores, it is not much, but a start. So far my best experience there is with being able to ask the butcher for certain types or kinds of meats and them cheerfully fulfilling my request.....for me definitely worth the extra dollars I had to spend.
